Flatness argues everything is the same everywhere.

In the exhibition Exponential Extensions Harm Coordes, Bruno Christofoletti Barrenha, and Marie Siekmann explore the boundaries between physical and digital, speed and stagnation, yesterday and tomorrow. This exhibition also seeks to challenge traditional notions of space by producing a temporary center – a spacelessness – where multiple expressions can coexist in a single moment. Through a combination of visual and sound art, text, accumulation and appropriation of everyday objects, the artists will explore themes of authenticity, identity, memory, and the human experience in the form of a multimedia installation.

Marie Siekmann

Marie Siekmann is a Fashion- and Costume Designer currently based in Bremen, Germany. She creates abstract design systems to build her collections. The search and valuation of unused clothes and recontextualized materials is essential in her work. As a costume designer she worked at Kampnagel Theater in Hamburg or for the movie Knochen und Namen, premiering at Berlinale 2023.

Bruno Christofoletti Barrenha

Bruno Christofoletti Barrenha (*1996 in Rio Claro, Brazil) is an artist working with film, video, installation, sound art, and archival art. His practice focuses on found footage and historical materials, especially those that can be found on the Internet. As director and editor, he conducted from pre- to post-production the short films “VAI!” (BRA, 2020) and “Digital Ashes” (BRA/DEU, 2022). The latter was developed as his master’s thesis and is included in the biennial program Emerging Artists – Contemporary Experimental Films and Video Art from Germany, curated by AG Kurzfilm and German Films. The work has also been screened in important film festivals in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Germany. Bruno holds a degree in Film from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a Master of Arts in Digital Media from the Hochschule für Künste Bremen.

Harm Coordes

Since graduating from University of the Arts Bremen, Harm Coordes has been working as a freelance fashion- and costume designer, scenographer and artist for theatres, artists and musicians. In 2014, he joined the theatre collective ‘Thermoboy FK’ whose productions explore current and historical concepts of masculinity, a performance-oriented society and living together as a group. Since 2015, he has been working as a lecturer in fashion design at HfK Bremen and since 2020 at HTW Berlin. He is an Artistic PhD candidate in the binational artistic PhD program at HfK Bremen in cooperation with the Department of Art History and Material Culture at RUG Groningen. His research focuses on the interconnection of individual or collective meaning to fashion through immersive and participatory fashion performances in order to generate a sustainable consumption model.
