4 yearsMarcela Antipan Olate is a media artist and designer originally from the southern Andes, now based in Germany. Her artistic practice focuses on investigating the subjectivities and complexities inherent in technical objects, exploring how they shape realities and generate knowledge. Through an experimental approach, she works with machines as both a means of expression and an object of investigation, reinterpreting and reimagining technologies—particularly measuring instruments—to transform them into digital pieces, physical objects, texts, installations, or collaborative experiences such as workshops.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the University of Chile and a Master’s degree in Digital Media from the University of the Arts Bremen. Her work has been exhibited at international venues, including Ars Electronica, Lab.30, and the Venice Biennale – Summer School. In 2024, she was awarded the Frese-Design-Preis.
Currently, Marcela teaches in the Digital Media Master’s program at the University of the Arts Bremen and collaborates on the artistic research project “The Dynamic Archive.” Her work in this project is primarily curatorial, involving interviews with other artists to explore and develop approaches to archiving their artistic processes.
