A momentum a drawing might start with is a tentative gesture: A fine line that stretches and interloops to a loose tissue, with holes and stitches.  As I approach it densens, the farther I go away it stretches and tears. It distorts when looked at from a pointed angle.

The idea of a net resembles that of a grid – they limit the world to the space between the lines. A grid objectifies by dividing the world into even sections. A net is an open and elastic structure: It contorts and warps the imagepoints. Junctures lose regularity and become chaotic, overstretch and tear. Large voids open up in an edge of shrunken tissue. The Idea of a net as a stretching fabric at the base of an image accounts for a distortion with many perspectives.

To hold onto something that dissolves in the corner of your eye. To record a fading concentration in a focused (and detailed) drawing. A contradiction. To transfer perspective and distance onto an abstract drawing. To reproduce a likeness to: Roadmaps. Topography. Aerial views. Approach for a landing. Extreme closeups. A drawing on the edge to be identified.

MINDSCAPE RUMINATIONTo think over. To overthink. In English (or French) also a zestful or neutral term for circling thoughts and the incessant speaking within yourself.(The German meaning is exclusively negative and refers to a pathological brooding and pondering, that is not orientated towards a result. Thinking in German is always orientated towards a result). An open and wandering drawing mimicks in it’s movements this hard to grasp form of thoughts:– To amp up and ebb away in volume (as if in sound)Not always specifically nameable. Digressing. Transparent. Unconscious.

Bad first draft The amorphous, badly put approaches that precede a clearly written out thought. The laborious, confusing battlefield of first draft before a neatly put message. Being almost able to say it. On the tip of my mind. You can’t erase your errors in a pencildrawing, just subordinate them.Meander/ maze

MINDSCAPE (PARTLY PROBLEMATIC)Trough a reverse hatching-movement contours of a new shape emerge. Friction of drawn fabric.                          Holes appear through an imperfect match of layers. Tiniest fractions and aberrations open up new levels in a drawing. An error rips (ripples) through the entire fabric and becomes a motive, the more layers add up.Long hole (in tights). Laufmasche. Fragments do not connect to a whole. Shifted. Delayed. To trace after the shifts and irregularities as intricately as possible. A feverish search for the smallest unit. Analytically overeager. Scrutiny to a problematic extent. To loop together, to tangle up, to warpTracing the event that caused the error and steers the drawing.
