Irena Kukrić is a media artist and set designer. She holds a diploma in Scenography at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade and a Master of Arts at the department of Digital Media at the University of Arts Bremen. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at PhDArts in Leiden, in collaboration with the University of Arts Bremen. Irena is a coordinator and researcher for the research project The Dynamic Archive and occasionally lectures at the University of Arts Bremen.

Her practise and research are related to the absence of the human body in time-based installation performance. She focuses on the balance between the digital or mechanical dimensions of works and the poetics of human experience when performed by non-human actors. She has worked as a stage designer in theatre and a production designer in film. She has created various installation performances for different galleries, digital media festivals, and theatre festivals.
